4 ways to get & keep natural healthy hair
Diet for a natural healthy hair
We all obsess about what products to use, but the key to gorgeous hair is a healthy diet! In fact, our hair, like our skin, can be one of the first things to reflect our overall health. What is a natural healthy hair healthy diet? A balanced diet is the way to go, with plenty of fruits and veggies. Since your hair is made mostly of protein, you’ll need a decent amount of it in your diet. You can achieve this by eating eggs, meat, and dairy, as well as beans, nuts, and seeds. Healthy hair also requires omega 3, found in oily fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts. Vitamin A, found in sweet potatoes, and Vitamin E, found in avocados, are also essential for hair growth. Make sure you’re getting plenty of Vitamin C and zinc, too.
Shampoo and conditioner
Did you know that some of the chemicals commonly found in shampoo aren’t exactly the most natural or healthy options? For example, sulphates can make hair brittle and may cause eczema for some people, while parabens have been linked to some cancers. These chemicals are often only found in small amounts, but still, many people prefer not to take chances and opt for more natural options. Looks for products that state they are SLS-free and free of parabens if this concerns you. There are lots of shampoos and conditioners that contain more natural and organic ingredients, so look for ones that suit your hair type and budget.

Oils
Natural oils are a great way to give your hair a natural boost and to get natural healthy hair. For many people, argan oil is still top of the list, as it makes hair glossy and strong. But there are so many others to try, too. Coconut oil is generally good, no matter your hair type. It also has antibacterial properties so can really boost scalp health. Then there’s macadamia, jojoba, almond, the list goes on! Experiment and find the one that’s right for your hair type. Use as an overnight treatment before shampooing as usual, or apply very lightly to the tips of your hair, as a serum. You’ll have luxurious, glossy locks in no time.
Also, regarding oils you can buy in stores, I can only recommend you the OI Oil from Davines or the Moroccan Oil one. Sure, they’re not 100% natural, but oh my… what results.
You can also make natural DIY hair masks at home, like a DIY hair mask with spirulina.
Natural hair dye
Some people worry about the health effects of chemicals in mainstream hair dye. If you’re looking to stay away from harsh chemicals, you might want to try a natural hair dye. These can be more gentle on the hair, while still providing full coverage. You can go to a salon that specialises in naturally derived dyes, like Aveda, or try an at-home balayage kit. Natural hair dye should make your hair really shiny and in beautiful condition, while protecting your overall health, too.
